One of the primary duties of the Board of Trustees is to manage the relationship with the Chancellor, the single most important member of the District’s staff. The Chancellor is the one employee who must answer to the Board.
Together, the chancellor and board set goals for the College. The board directs the Chancellor in implementing these goals.
The current City College Board of Trustees is in the process of selecting a new Chancellor for the college. The board must find someone with impeccable educational credentials, who reflects the diversity of City College, who honors community input into the College, and who is prepared to work collaboratively with the Board of Trustees.
Milton Marks was selected by his colleagues to be one of the three trustees on the Search Committee for the new chancellor. His leadership is integral to the process the board is following in its selection. In order to foster a more transparent process, Marks has advocated for improvements to the way we evaluate the Chancellor, set annual goals, and oversee the operation of the District. In addition, Marks believes that the next Chancellor must be equally adept at working with the community, students and faculty and the Board of Trustees if the college is to reach is fullest potential. |
